The explosion in the use of the Internet is ushering in a new form of networked society where different types and large volumes of information are exchanged over global networks. Consequent use of IT (information technology) on an individual level as well as in homes and schools, in addition to businesses and governments, is producing new types of communities and services in rapid succession that are going to result in drastic changes in social, economic, and industrial structures.
